EDF Boiler Cover: 2022 Guide and Reviews

Last Updated on January 1, 2022

When your boiler is regularly maintained, parts can be fitted before they wear out altogether and cause problems. If you don’t have your boiler regularly maintained then you might have big expense if it breaks down.

You can avoid any headaches with the cost of replacements or repairs by taking out boiler cover, to ensure you’re protected in case of emergency breakdowns or faults.

EDF is an energy company which supplies electricity and gas to homes and businesses throughout the UK. It was formed in 2002 following an amalgamation of several companies including The London Electricity Board and the South Eastern Electricity Board.

They have a large website, but it is easy to find what you’re looking for and the plans are set out clearly with what’s included and pricing. The website also has a blog that includes articles about common boiler problems and how to fix frozen pipes.

They have partnered with the insurance company Domestic & General to provide three types of boiler care.

Boiler Cover and More

BoilerCare Gold

The Gold cover is a service and maintenance package for your boiler. It includes the repair or replacement of your boiler and the controls if it fails its annual service, breaks down and can’t be repaired, or is beyond economical repair.

During the annual service the engineer should check the following:

  • They should make a visual check of the boiler to see if there is any damage
  • The flame should be looked at to make sure it is blue and not orange or yellow which could indicate a problem.
  • Check the pressure and/or heat output
  • Check the safety device
  • Check the case seals
  • Check main boiler components: this should include the heat exchanger and the burner with the main injector and the spark probe
  • Turn the boiler off and then on again to make sure it sparks up correctly
  • Clean any boiler parts that need to be cleaned

Once the service is complete your engineer will give you a service report. If they have found any faults these will be included in the report with recommendations as to what needs to be done next.

BoilerCare Platinum

The Platinum cover includes all the benefits of the Gold cover but also includes your central heating system.
